One pouring afternoon in the barn, a sinister plot was arizing.
The furious Elvin and his gang of the roughest meanest cats this side of Warner county. At that moment Elvin was so mad with the number of how many mice had gotton into the chicken feed.
A unknown listener plotting as well.
"I wish there were some way we could make peace. Those nasty cats are always picking on us mice." thought the little listener. While the cats were discussing the best way to play with yarn, the little listener decided to make a game while she was waiting for the cats to talk about something more interesting. She balled up a straw of hay, and would see how far she could throw it by hanging on her tail. Her goal was to hit the flower sack, she was not quite close enough. She swung harder, and harder, and harder, until... ''EEEEEEEP!!!" The poor little mouse fell into a ring of cats. "AH, HA! An imposter!!" shouted Texo, the second in leadership of the gang. "OOh, a spetail dilivery meal! How nice!" sneered Quince a lady cat. "What were you doing up there, small fry? Whats your name?"hacked Elvin. "I-I-I was pl-playing a game. I w-wasn't litsening the s-stuff you said about the mice getting the chicken feed-- I-I mean--" squeaked the mouse shakily. "Oh,no you were not listening at all."Elvin said sarcasticly. The whole gang began to chuckle nad cackle. Before Mindy knew what was going on Quince had swooped her up, and was dangling her over her jaws. "Ya see, kid. We can't have ya babbling this news around." snickered Texo. "Have a nice trip!" said Quince. From what it seemed to Mindy a hugeblack hole was opening. But all of the sudden, a furry bridge filled the gap over the hole. Then somebody cried out. "STOP!" As quick as a flash Mindy was back on the ground. "Who saved me?" squeaked the astonished mouse. "We won't do it again, Sam! I promise we won't!" Cried Quince. "Yeah, Honest!" Shouted Texo. Mindy looked up to see the biggest most beautiful Border Collie ever layed eyes on by a mouse."Don't hurt us, Sam. PLEASE?!" screamed Elvin. The deep voiced creature responded with a nod. "Don't let that promise slip your mind." He warned. "I am eternally gratful!"squealed Mindy. The Sam walked off to a tree to go and do his job of watching the sheep. Mindy Fallowed as fast as her little feet could take her.
