Danielle was playing a game of hide and seek with her dog Shepherd, who loved those sorts of games.
The fluffy Austrailian Shepard suddenly stopped and made a low growl. Danielle startled from this interupption was feeling her hairs prick. She slowly turned her shaking body toward the direction Shep was growling. She turned to see a very distressed pheonix, fluttering about.
Danielle climbed up in a dogwood to get closer to the great bird, and saw a nest filled with 10 chicks. She began stroking the infants, and as soon as she did the peonix took off down the hill. "Come back!" She cried thinking the bird would leave for good. In her rush she tripped and tumbled down the hill after the pheonix. Danielle stopped rolling to see her brother Nick, her cousin Pete, and a boy she did not know. The boy seemed to be trying to take away their sticks. As soon as the boy realized what happened he apologized, and walked back up the hill, with the pheonix perched on his shoulder. "Danny?!" cried the two surprised boys. "What are you doing here?" wondered Pete. After she explained the mistake they marked the happening as nothing, and continued as before. Poor Edward had felt ashamed again, and went to be with his only friend. "We should be getting back to the lane, Nick." remarked Pete. "I agree. Aunt Lucinda will be in an outrage if we miss breakfeast.
Now there is something you should know about the family. Nick still remembers when he was very young when he awoke early in the morning to a sound. He saw his father leave a note on his mother's bedside, and his father walk out the door. Three hours later his mother awoke, read the note and ran out the door. He saw her go to the little row boat and go out to sea, never to return. Nick and baby Daniel were then put in Uncle Job and Aunt Lucinda's care, so Nick's cousin, Peter was like a brother to him.
Pete and Nick went on again by slashing the wind with their 'swords.'
As the delighted trio ran along back to the lane, Aunt Lucinda watched them approach from a window. "Those boys are so animal like they will over run our little island of Zibic to peices!" She cried in dismay.
Now the island of Zibic was the barrior between the Great Sea, and the Doongag sea. To the east mainland of the Great Sea where the "good ol' " Cothids lived was filled with loving and thoughtful creatures, who had defended the human Zibics and animal Zibics in the war long ago.
To the west was the Doongags, horrid evil beings, and creatures alike but all the same on the inside. Their leader, Gusfack was the worst of them all. For he was a Onwrin, they are two-headed creatures with snouts and horns. To put it lightly they are 'deadly.'
